Scarduish, fabulously situated on the shores of Loch Moidart near Acharacle on Scotland's west coast, is the most deceptive of houses, its simple, brightly painted, boarded exterior belying the spacious comfort to be found within.

On the scenic Lochshiel Estate, with stunning views from the large front windows over the sea loch below, it has been furnished and appointed to a very high standard.
The large, bright, open plan living area has a big modern kitchen and a most comfortable sitting and dining area, with a wood-burning stove as a welcoming focal point (if you can drag yourself away from the views, that is). Then there are three airy bedrooms (one en suite), a utility room and a family bathroom - really all you could want!
The cottage stands in its own extensive grounds, with a terrace area (with furniture).
Bring your binoculars, for you are likely to see a wonderful array of wildlife here, from seals and otters to deer and pine martens in the woods and buzzards and even eagles in the sky above. A short walk will bring you to the sandy beaches of Dorlin Bay, with the romantic ruin of Castle Tioram.
Nearby Acharacle offers shops and a hotel and from here you can strike out in all directions to explore the wonderful scenery of this most beautiful area of Scotland.
No trip to this lovely part of the world would be complete without a trip to the Ardnamurchan peninsula, the westernmost point of mainland Britain. There is a Stevenson lighthouse right at the tip and the sands at Sanna Bay are justly famous. The road along there (turn right at Salen) is a delight in itself and en route you will pass the RSPB reserve at Glenborrodale, where in addition to wood warblers and redstarts you may also see otters and red squirrels.
To the north, the trip via Lochailort and 'The Road to the Isles' is equally rewarding, with the little port of Mallaig at the end of it. Prepare to be beguiled by the silver beaches and turquoise waters of Arisaig and Morar, with their wonderful views of Rum and Eigg, or even the links golf course there at Traigh, surely one of the most scenic in all Britain.
