Ross & Cromarty
Ross and Cromarty is another of these large, loosely defined counties of Scotland which stretches from the Black Isle in the East to Skye in the west (where it is divided into Easter and Wester Ross). The Black Isle is not an island at all, but a peninsula between the Moray and Cromarty Firths, famous for its birdlife and lovely, peaceful scenery. Red kites have recently been reintroduced in the area, while Munlochy Bay is famous for the wading birds which congregate there.

Lots to Explore
On its south coast, Rosemarkie and Fortrose are pretty villages beside the prime dolphin-watching site at Chanonry Point. The village of Cromarty, at the end of the peninsula, has a sandy beach and is one of the most enchanting and picturesque villages in the whole of Scotland. The Black Isle Brewery near Bogallan is also well worth a visit!
Easter Ross
Easter Ross encompasses the peninsula on the other shore of the Cromarty Firth where you will find the town of Tain, home of the Glenmorangie whisky distillery.
The Black Isle
The Black Isle is not actually an island, but a peninsula between the Cromarty and Moray Firths, where you can dolphin watch at Chanonry Point.
