A Break Away From It All
Lilliesleaf has a pub/restaurant and there is a turn-up-and-play golf course within a couple of miles – you can even bring your dog along if you wish.
Midlem is one of the prettiest of the Scottish Borders villages and is, unusually for Scotland, set round a village green. For local entertainment just on the edge of the village you can try out clay pigeon shooting.
Both of these quaint hamlets are only 40 miles south of Edinburgh so a day out in the beautiful capital is easily doable. There you will find an abundance of shopping, pubs and restaurants, as well as the tourist draws of Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace.
