Burnmouth
Burnmouth is a small seaside village set right on the picturesque Berwickshire coastline where there is still a bustling fishing industry. The village is split into two sections – Upper and Lower Burnmouth and every year the ‘Brae Race’ sees brave participants tackle the 20% incline of the brae that leads from the lower to the upper part of the village either on foot or by bike.
Burnmouth is the first village to be found in Scotland when travelling up from England and the local pub, named aptly The First and Last Pub, is a great spot to stop off for a drink, a meal or even afternoon tea.
Walkers can try out the Berwickshire Coastal Path that runs from Cockburnspath, through Burnmouth and all the way down to Berwick-upon-Tweed. The route is 28.5 miles in total and there are lots of birds such as razorbills, kittiwakes, curlews and even colourful puffins to spot nesting on the cliffs along the way, as well as some wonderful flora and fauna.
