Loch Tummel
This inland loch is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Perthshire's 'Big Tree Country', roughly 6 miles west of Pitlochry. At the loch's eastern end is the Queen's View Visitor Centre that provides magnificent views across the area to the 1083-metre Schiehallon and has interesting audio visual presentations. With Ben Vrackie to the east and Schiehallion to the west, it is an area beloved of hill walkers, cyclists and naturalists and osprey can often be spotted catching their breakfast in its clear waters.

A Beautiful Area to Explore
The Loch offers the best of both worlds, peace and quiet and yet easy access to the A9, should a day in the Cairngorms or even Inverness beckon.
It is handy, too, for Pitlochry, a famous tourist mecca with not only a full range of shops, restaurants and amenities but also its 'Theatre in the Hills' and its dam and fish ladder. Between the loch and the town is the dramatic and historic Pass of Killiecrankie which is also well worth a visit.
Winding roads run along both sides of the loch, though the northern one is the main tourist trail which leads on to wild and beautiful Loch Rannoch. The tiny country road along the south side from Foss is excellent for a quiet cycle ride (you can, of course, go right round the loch if you feel sufficiently energetic). From Tummel Bridge scenic roads run north to Trinafour and the famous retail halls of the House of Bruar, and south over the shoulder of Schiehallion to Aberfeldy or Loch Tay.
